How to get here: the route begins at the center of Porretta.
The trail starts from Porretta Terme. In the center of the village there are indications from the local CAI Section of the Upper Appennino Bolognese that indicate the direction of the route. The complete path of the path 103 is: Porretta-Madognana-the Poggio-Rifugio Monte Cavallo. It is a hiking path (necessary footwear and appropriate equipment) and it lasts 3 hours and 30 min.

 

Monte della Croce

How to get here: From the Terme Alte follow the directions to the swimming-pool; upon arriving at the pond on the left starts the path, called “Ecological Walk”, which goes up to the top of Monte della Croce.
It is an easy path that starts from the pond located near the municipal pool of Porretta Terme and there is no need to be skilled hikers to get on top of the Monte della Croce. The path is 1800 meters long, with a climb of 200 meters. From the top you can enjoy a beautiful view of whole Porretta. From here you can continue towards the pretty village of Madognana.

 

CAI path 107

How to get here: the route begins at the center of Porretta. The trail starts from Porretta Terme. In the center of the village there are indications from the local CAI Section of the Upper Appennino Bolognese that indicate the direction of the route. The complete 107 path is: Porretta-Pallareda-Casa Ianni-Castelluccio-Prati del Piella-Pian dello Stellaio.

It is a hiking trail (footwear and appropriate equipment are necessary). It lasts 4 hours and 30 min. Another way to get to destination is, once you have arrived at Castelluccio, to take a different route towards Pennola and then continue along the driveway that leads to the beautiful Sanctuary of Madonna del Faggio. Along the way, the pretty village of Tresana is worth a visit.
From Castelluccio to Madonna del Faggio there are about 5 Km, and the route is very easy. Once you reach the sanctuary you can continue, following the CAI 109 path, towards the Mulino della Squaglia, located on the Baricello torrent, and then arriving at Monteacuto delle Alpi, one of the most beautiful villages of the Bolognese mountain, perched in a panoramic position. From the sanctuary to Monteacuto it takes over 1 hour. The trail is for skilled hikers.
